Weekend Fun

Weekend Fun

I got in a killer workout on Friday (Ashley Horner Charlie Mike Day 5) and hit a new PB (personal best) on my deadlifts: 210lbs for 1 rep baby. HOLLA. Then I banged out 3 circuits of 15 swiss ball hamstring curls, 400m row (in 2 minutes), and 10 weighted step ups per leg. The rowing absolutely killed me. After the first set I sat on the floor with my head between my knees, thinking I couldn’t possibly do all of it again, especially twice. This is a part of why I wanted to follow someone else’s program for a change. Because I feel like someone is telling me what to do and watching me and not taking no for an answer, while it’s easier for me to be like “you know what, two sets of this is probably fine instead of the 4 I originally planned” when it’s my own workout that I wrote up.  I really had to dig deep and push myself mentally to keep going.

Friday night Dan’s childhood/high school/college friend was in town visiting and we went out with my sister and my friend Sarah and her boyfriend Tyler. I would say that all of us ended up having a prettttyyy good time. Dan and his friend and I ended up at a diner at 2am for milkshakes and French fries. It was glorious. Late night eating is okay if it’s a once in a while thing, okay?! Saturday we brunched at Devil’s Alley which I usually love except the AC was broken and even though I called to make a reservation no one mentioned it and it was like a 95 degree afternoon. So it was not the most comfortable meal I’ve ever had. Still tasty though.

I spent the rest of Saturday napping at my friend Mattie’s until it was time to get up and get ready go out to dinner with her sister and some of her friends. I had edamame dumplings, dan dan noodles, and chicken skewers, as well as a few pretty delicious mojitos. We went to a newer Tiki-style bar that I didn’t even know existed and then headed out to one more stop before calling it a night.

On Sunday I woke up super wired, probably from lack of sleep, and decided it would be the day that I tried cake decorating which is something I’ve been wanting to dabble in since following a few different professional cake makers on Instagram. Watching videos of people decorate cakes is seriously mesmerizing and I find it totally relaxing, so I thought I would give it a try myself. Except the grocery store I went to in Center City was not really what I was looking for and they had no decorating tools or even food coloring. So I didn’t really get to practice any of my skillz. But I still made a pretty bomb funfetti cake and mixed cream cheese icing with caramel drizzle, and prettied it up with coconut shavings and walnuts. Clearly, I was on a detox all weekend.

This morning I woke up absolutely exhausted when my alarm went off at 5am, and I’ll admit I snoozed it until about 5:15, but I got up and made it to bootcamp and put them through a good one. But now I’m back to being a zombie, so it should be one heck of a Monday. At least I have the Kim/Taylor drama to get me through.

What was the highlight of your weekend??
