Friday Favorites: Spotlight on Ánimo Juice
I wasn’t gonna do a Friday Favorites today because I didn’t feel like thinking of anything but then it presented itself right to me when I stopped for breakfast this morning on my way into the office!
I have gone to Ánimo a few different times now. The concept is kind of random – it is a juice and burrito bar. So they have smoothies, smoothie bowls, juices, and burritos. But hey, it works. I only had a burrito once and I honestly don’t remember much about it other than I thought it was good. Also the place is insanely packed around lunch time. SO - this post will focus on the things I get for breakfast; aka smoothies, acai bowls, and that new jawn I tried out for the very first time today … banana custard!
I have had their acai bowl a few times for breakfast now. While it is a little expensive, it’s pretty delicious and filling. They use fresh, natural, and local ingredients, so that helps jack the price up a bit. Worth it!
It comes with granola and fresh fruit slices and is arranged in a plastic cup like a parfait. So, not really a bowl. But still good. You can add coconut, honey, peanut butter, and more for an additional 50 cents. Did I have one last Friday? You betcha.
This morning I wanted to try something that always catches my eye but I have not tried yet: The frozen banana custard. It’s literally just frozen banana blended together. That’s it, nothing else. I got it topped with strawberries, blueberries, granola, and peanut butter. It is about half the price of an acai bowl so I expected it to be small, but it was an overflowing container of deliciousness. I would say the peanut butter is key to making this meal a little more exciting, as well as filling (don't underestimate this bowl though, I am FULL)! Perfect breakfast for a summer day. I already want another one. I’ll probably go again on Monday, if we’re being honest.
